Sports and Films

I was on my school holiday last week, and was a bit bored, so I decided to watch some old films. I saw The Karate Kid, which is an action film about a teenage American boy called Daniel, who moves his house and school because of his mothers’ new job. He initially finds it difficult to make friends and settle into the new routine. Surprisingly though, an elderly Chinese man, Mr. Miyagi, helps him to learn karate to stop the bullies and give Daniel back his confidence.

I viewed it on my TV at home and my favourite scene was near the end, when he takes part in a Karate competition and wins with a spectacular kick. In my opinion, it was a story about friendship and standing up for yourself. Despite the story having karate scenes in it, they were not just fighting, but they were really skillful and even sometimes funny.

Yes, it is a little bit old now, I think it was made in 1984, before I was even born. However, it was a fun movie to watch and you mustn’t ignore films just because of their age. I didn’t think this film would be good, but it was pretty interesting. I didn’t notice any special effects, but I guess not every film has them. I am now thinking about learning karate myself. It looks pretty cool, it will keep me fit and it will help me stay safe. I am sure they organise classes at my local gym, so it shouldn’t be too difficult.
