Sports Heroes of this Year

John McFarlan was awarded the fair play award of the year because of multiple cases in which he showed that he is a true sportsman. He usually plays as a defender in his football team, but this year he has committed only 5 fouls! This is an amazing record for a defender. In another incident, McFarlan asked the referee to cancel a penalty kick for his team because he knew the opponent player had not committed a foul. Everyone was surprised, but he said in the press conference that it is the duty of every player to play fair.

Ashley O’Brien truly deserves every award she can get for what she did during a race in Florida this year. Ashley was ahead of everyone in the middle of the race when multiple cyclists collided with each other and almost all of them fell to the ground. The other cyclists also stopped to help. Ashley could easily have won the race, but as soon as she realised what had happened, she turned back to help the cyclists who were injured. At the request of her and the other cyclists, the race was cancelled and rescheduled. It shows sportsmanship is alive and well in today’s competitive atmosphere.
