Springfield, USA
I was born in 1982 and grew up in Springfield in Massachusetts, USA. When I was a kid Springfield was one of the most beautiful towns in the USA. People lived in peace and weren’t poor. Everybody loved their neighbourhoods, and there weren’t any homeless people on the streets.
Things changed in the 1990s when people moved to Springfield to find jobs. Many of them didn’t want to
be part of Springfield. They came to work for money and send it back to their families in other cities. They didn’t care about Springfield.
In the 1990s there was more crime and more violence in the streets. Poverty increased too. You could see lots of homeless people on the streets. Because of these problems, the streets were dirty too. That’s why a lot of people left the city, and new people bought houses. But they didn’t care about Springfield, so my hometown slowly became dirtier and dirtier. My family and I don’t live in Springfield any more. I think it’s not a good idea to run away from a place when things go wrong. We should stay and fix the problems.
