Star Wars is the most famous series of movies across the globe. The original film came out in 1977 and was about the battle between the Rebel Alliance and the evil Imperial Forces.
Under orders from the terrifying and cruel Darth Vader, the imperial forces captured princess Leia. They wanted to stop the rebellion. A Jedi knight called Luke Skywalker decided to help the princess. Jedis in Star Wars films are mystical knights with special powers. They are trained to guard the Universe to keep peace and justice. Han Solo who is the captain of the Millennium Forces, helped Luke to rescue the princess together with two robots. They were R2-D2 and C-3PO. Together they wanted to bring freedom and justice to the galaxy but …
The next Star Wars film came out in 1980. The Empire Strikes Back continued the adventure with all the original cast. In 1983, Return of the Jedi completed the trilogy.
The creator of Star wars movies was George Lucas. Originally, he planned nine films in total. The first three films were not the beginning of the story. In 1999, George Lucas made the first episode of the series. The cast was completely different than the first three movies. Two other films followed shortly afterwards.
In December 2015 the seventh film came out – The Force Awakens. Advance ticket sales for the film began on October 19, 2015. Vue Cinemas, the United Kingdom's third-largest theatre chain, sold 45,000 tickets in 24 hours. In the United States, the film pre-sold a record-breaking $6.5 million worth of IMAX ticket sales on a single day. "The Force Awakens" made over $600 million in the US and $1.2 billion worldwide.
