Staying Wet in Seattle!
Adam’s cousin Beth comes from Seattle. When people think of Seattle they often think of wet weather and cloudy skies - it is, after all, one of the top 5 wettest cities in America. While it’s true that Seattle has the most rain of any large American city during November and autumn, and winter and spring are usually rainy, the summer months are almost always dry and warm. It rarely rains from June to September.
So how do the people of Seattle keep cool during the summer?
In warm weather in other cities around the world, you can usually see people heading for a swimming pool but in Seattle they like to do things differently. Here you can cool down at one of the many ‘wading pools’ (where people walk and play in the water) or ‘spray parks’.
Spray parks with their fountains and jets of water for splashing through, are often crowded in the summer and sometimes on cloudy days they are still busy. Spray parks usually have areas for small children as well as older children and adults.
So even when it’s not raining, you can always stay wet in Seattle because somewhere in the city there is a watery play park waiting for you !
