STREET CHILDREN

There are millions of homeless people around the world. Homelessness is still one of the biggest problems that needs to be solved.

Eduardo, an 18-year-old Brazilian boy, voluntarily works with street children. These children live in the streets because they have no home and no other place to go. They sleep in bus stations and parks. Sometimes they sell things or when they have no money to buy food. They sometimes beg or steal.

Eduardo tries to help these children just so that they have a normal life. There is an organisation called Homeless Hope, which was founded in 1998. He has been working with that organisation for three years now. They find these homeless children and try to communicate with them. It is not easy, says Eduardo. It takes some time for the children to trust these people. Once they gain their confidence, these kids start talking and sharing. The organisation provides food and water for these children. After that, the next step is to try to persuade them to live in shelters. This organisation has also built shelters for them.

Eduardo and his friends really work hard. They also want to prepare a teaching program for these children because they believe that education is really important. It is the starting point of everything. He says that if these children learn a job, once they start working, they will not want to live in the streets. They have saved many children’s lives and are still working very hard to save even more lives.
