STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Nowadays, students are busier than ever. Spending time with friends is very important,
but they have less time to do so. Many children and teens tend to choose extracurricular activities,
they can do with their closest friends as a way to hang out.
According to the Pew Research Centre’s survey, the second most chosen activity friends do together was sports.
73% of kids said they liked to play on a team sport such as basketball, football, or volleyball.
The third most common activity was participating in group activities, such as an after school club (60%).
Adolescents reported they joined a particular club because their friends joined as well.
Some examples of clubs are chess, computer animation, book, and film clubs.
Activities which students could do with a friend or independently were further down the list.
The fourth most common activity was taking lessons in dance, music or art (54%).
Some examples are ballet, playing the piano, and painting lessons. The fifth was doing volunteer work,
such as helping at an animal shelter or raising money for charity (53%).
The activity least likely to be done with a friend was having a part-time job (36%).
What is the number one most common activity?
90% of children and teens reported using phones or computers regularly to stay in touch with friends.
Social media is very important to children’s lives these days.
Many adolescents reported that using technology helps them stay connected to their friends.
