Team Sports or Individual Sports?
Interviewer: Today we’re talking to our new tennis champion. Hi Mark. Congratulations! It was an amazing game! How did you start tennis?
Matthew: Thank you, first of all. Well ... I am a little shy and don’t like to be in a team. I was in a football team in our school three years ago, and I hated it. I didn’t know what to do in a team game, and our team always lost the matches because of my mistakes. So, I thought I was suited for individual sports, and here I am, playing tennis!
Interviewer: Do we have team games in tennis?
Matthew: Yes, we do. You can play doubles. That means two players play against two other players. It is sometimes difficult, but I don’t have a problem with it. It’s better than eleven players in your team!
Interviewer: What do you have to say to young sportspeople?
Matthew: Everybody is good at something. Don’t get sad when you can’t play in teams. Perhaps you can win in individual sports or in smaller teams. Always try different types of sports and discover yourself.
