Technology Driven Education

Technology Driven Education

In today’s world, technology is everywhere and integrated with every part of our culture and daily life. Tech also plays a huge role in education. Since the learners, in other words generation Z kids, are born into this technology, it is necessary to adapt it into every step of their lives. They have been learning through technology since they were born, so it wouldn’t make sense for schools not to implement it into their systems. However, for many schools, implementing the latest technology has always been very difficult to navigate efficiently. There are actually two main reasons behind this. First of all, most of their Wi-Fi networks are not capable of properly supporting the technology. Secondly, most teachers see it as more of a burden than a strategic learning tool because not all of them are born into a technology driven world. They should understand that integrating technology into the classroom is highly important because it is an effective way to connect with students of all learning styles. It gives teachers the opportunity to develop their student’s digital citizenship skills, which is one of the most important 21st century skills. “Integrating technology in education helps students stay engaged. Most students today have been using mobile devices like tablets and smartphones to play and learn since they could crawl. So it only seems logical to align today’s classrooms with the way that your students want and are used to learning”, says Danny Mareco, a 21st century education expert. He also indicates that the traditional teaching methods are now old- fashioned. The passive learning model is broken, and a more active style allows students to be more involved in everything in the learning process. When mobile technology is available and used efficiently in the classroom, students are able to access the most up-to-date information quicker and easier than ever before. Using these devices also helps students to be more responsible and they improve their own decision making skills as well as taking ownership of a valuable device.
