The 1960s and Now

(1) ………………….

Do you think people who want to remain single are sick? Well, today most people don’t think that, but in the 1960s it was the norm. About 80 per cent of Americans thought that marriage was the only good way of life for young people.

(2) ………………….

Women’s life was getting better at that time, but it didn’t use to be as good as it is today. Most women didn’t go to college because they got married and had kids. Housework used to keep them so busy that they didn’t have time to continue their studies. That’s why only 30 per cent of women had jobs. Now the number is at about 70 per cent.

(3) ………………….

A lot of people didn’t use to have have access to health products and facilities like we do today. In the 1960s out of 10,000 babies, about 25 of them died after birth. Today thanks to better health facilities and products, there are only about 6 deaths per 10,000 births.
