The app problem

Google and Apple say that you can find millions of smartphone apps on Play Store and App Store. But how many of these apps do you need? How many of these app are useful or good-quality?

Most people have about 35 apps on their smartphones. Some of these apps, like Maps, Contacts, messaging tools, camera apps and social media apps, come with the phone. People often try a new app and then delete it after a week, or they hardly ever use it. So, some people ask, ‘Why do we have so many apps in the app stores?’

Some experts say that when we have millions of apps, people can choose between good-quality and bad-quality apps. This helps good-quality apps to become popular because people tell their family and friends about them. However, some experts say that lots of apps on your smartphone can waste your time. Today a lot of people don’t exercise, read books, talk to friends, do housework or just relax. What do they do instead? They get and use new apps.
