THE BIGGEST DINOSAUR
The tyrannosaurus is a very famous dinosaur, but it wasn’t the biggest dinosaur.
The biggest dinosaurs were herbivores. It means that their food was plants, and they weren’t hunters.
These big dinosaurs are called ‘sauropods’, and the biggest one of them was the Argentinosaurus.
The Argentinosaurus lived on Earth about 95 million years ago. It was about 35 metres long and 7.5 metres tall.
It was very heavy, too — about 95,000 kilos! It lived in groups to be safe from hunters because it was very slow.
In 1987, a farmer found the first Argentinosaurus fossil. It was in the ground on his farm in Argentina.
It was the leg bone of an Argentinosaurus, and it was bigger than a human!
