The End-Of-The-Year Party
Jake: I can’t believe it’s the end of the year. It was a long year, wasn’t it?
Ann: To me, it went by very fast because I was so busy.
Jake: So, what are you going to do next weekend? Let’s have a big barbecue with friends and classmates.
Ann: I agree. Who’s going to buy the stuff for the party?
Jake: My dad can do it. Don’t worry about that part. First, let’s call a few close friends.
Ann: OK. Let me call Brian . . . Hi Brian. How are you? Have you got any plans next weekend?
Jake and I want to have a barbecue with friends.
Brian: Hi Ann. No, I don’t have any plans. Do you want me to bring something with me too?
Ann: That’s great. Well, maybe some juice from your dad’s supermarket? Can you?
Brian: Oh, sure. Who else is coming?
Ann: You’re the first person on the list. I’m going to call more friends. Thanks, Brian.
I’ll text you about it tomorrow, OK?
Brian: OK, Ann. Thanks for inviting me. Bye.
Jake: That’s great. So, Brian’s coming. Let me call Sheila . . . Hi Sheila.
We’re going to have a barbecue next weekend. Are you interested in coming?
Sheila: Oh, Jake. Thanks for the invitation. I’d love to come, but I can’t.
My family and I are going on a trip next week. But wait, Tim and Sarah are here.
Let me ask them . . . Yes, they can come to the party.
Jake: Well, that’s bad news and good news at the same time! Have a good trip.
I’ll text Tim and Sarah later today.
Sheila: All right then. Hope it’s a great party. Bye!
Jake: OK. Now we have two more people. Let’s call more friends . .
