THE EXPERIENCE (TAKEN FROM A SCHOOL MAGAZINE)

THE EXPERIENCE (TAKEN FROM A SCHOOL MAGAZINE)

Last year, our school started a project called “The Experience”. Our teachers talked with some businesses and they asked the owners to give jobs to some of their 14-year-old students in our school. 1. .................... So here is what a couple of the students did during a week.

When I first heard about the project, I felt quite pleased. I’m into drawing and the school arranged for me a very exciting job in a local coffee shop. I had to help clean in the morning. It was the boring part. Then, in the afternoon, I worked with two of my classmates and we painted the walls outside the coffee shop. 2. .................... We just painted the walls as we liked. In the afternoon, we washed the dishes, and at the end of the day, we all felt very tired. Although it was hard to wake up early in the morning, I loved the job, but I’m not sure if I can work like that every day!

I love reading so when my literature teacher told me that I had a job in the local library I felt so happy! When I first met the people there, I was a little shy, but after a few hours, I felt more relaxed. They worked long hours, but they all seemed to enjoy it. 3. .................... Well, the first thing I did was to help label the new books. It was enjoyable. Then, I helped some students looking for books. The only difficult part was dusting the shelves! Now, I understand why my parents always want my help with the cleaning! I loved spending time around the books. So if you want to take part in “The Experience” this summer, contact Vice Principle Ms. River. 4. .................... We look forward to hearing about your experience!
