The Fake Paris in China

The Fake Paris in China

Ah, Paris! The city of love and beautiful buildings and monuments. It is a city full of people. Each year millions of tourists visit Paris. More than 5,000 miles away, however, there is another Paris. Yes, that’s true. Well, there’s its famous Arc de Triomphe. There is the Eiffel Tower. And there are some of those posh Parisian buildings, statues and fountains. It certainly seems like Paris, right? Wrong! That’s Tianducheng and all these Parisian attractions are just replicas.

Welcome to Tianducheng! It is a luxury real estate development and Paris look-alike. It is situated in Hangzhou, China. Unlike the real one, this is a virtual ghost town. There are empty streets and eerie silence everywhere in this city. Why? Because only a small portion of the apartments are occupied. Few people wander the streets. The fountains aren't running at all. They are all just for decoration. The Chinese made this billion-dollar neighbourhood with the hopes of attracting 10,000 residents. For various reasons, that never happened. Under 2,000 came. And that number is decreasing day by day. If you want to see an empty Paris without people, Tianducheng is waiting!
