The Farmer and His Sons
Once upon a time, there was a farmer. He was very old, and he didn’t have a lot of days to live. He was very ill, so one day he called his sons to his bedside. He said to his sons, ‘I’m going to die soon. So, pay attention to what I want to say. When I was young I put some gold in the ground somewhere on the farm. I don’t know its exact place, but you have to dig the ground to find it.’
When the farmer died his sons started to dig every part of the farm. But they didn’t find anything. They were not happy. Soon they forgot about the gold and worked on the farm. In the spring, the farm had more corn than the year before. The sons understood that their hard work was more important than the gold.
