The Great Apes
Did you know that you are an ape? That’s right! Humans are part of the ape family. Apes are large and clever animals. The ape family also includes gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, bonobos and gibbons.
Apes are omnivores. They eat mostly fruits, plants and insects. Their arms are usually longer than their legs. They don’t have tails. Apes are good parents. Their babies stay with them for a long time. For example, baby orangutans stay with their mother until they are six or seven years old. Gorillas live in big families. Apes make nests from leaves and they sleep on them with their families.
