THE GREAT GREY OWL

THE GREAT GREY OWL

Dear Aunt Martha,

I am an artist! I painted a picture of an owl and it is going to be in an exhibition! My teacher said it is a beautiful painting. Last month we learned about painting with perspective, and I wanted to try something interesting. I painted a snowy forest landscape, but I put all the trees in rows so I could use something called perspective. There was one tree in front that was the biggest, and I wanted to put something in the open space of the tree. I painted the owl there. There was already a lot of contrast between the white snow and the brown tree, but I wanted more. So I painted the owl gray and white. It is called a Great Gray Owl. My teacher said the owl looked alive. I will send you pictures of it soon. Or if you want, you can buy the original painting from me. Maybe I will be famous sometime in the future and you can sell the painting for a million dollars!

Love,

Beverly
