The Green Academy

The Green Academy

Ayesha works in an academy in Germany. The academy is owned by a bank which is devoted to being green. The academy teaches adults that work for the bank. In fact, all the branches of the bank are dedicated to being green, too.

All the rubbish is separated into plastic waste, organic waste, paper waste, metal waste and glass waste. It is so simple to separate your rubbish when there are all these bins available and in handy places. The waste is collected and then sent for recycling. The organic waste is put on a compost heap in the garden. It gradually decomposes and turns into fertilizer which is then used in the garden to help the plants grow. All the food is locally-sourced and as healthy as possible.

There are also solar panels installed and most of the academy’s energy needs are filled by these solar panels. In the bedrooms, the electricity only works if a key is placed in the holder. This means that when there is nobody in the room, lights won’t be left on, the heating system won’t be running for no reason and the television will automatically close.

Even the pens that are used by both the teachers and students are made from rolled paper instead of plastic. Towels are only washed when they need to be instead of every day. Water is served in glass jugs rather than plastic bottles. The binders that are given to the students are made from recycled paper. The serviettes provided at meal times are all made from recycled paper and are biodegradable, too.

There are so many small things like these, as well as the large ones like the solar panels, that the carbon footprint of the academy is reduced as much as possible.
