The Huge Cake in the Fridge

Almira and James were alone at home. They played some games inside the house, and they felt hungry. Almira opened the fridge door. She said, “James, look at this huge cake! I am sure mom baked it for us. Let’s eat it!”. James wasn’t sure because Almira’s mom hadn’t said anything when she left home. “Are you sure it is for us?”, James asked. Almira answered, “Of course it is for us. Come on.”

The two friends ate half of the cake. Then they decided to go bowling and went to the mall in town. After bowling, they saw the advertisement for the newest movie. They bought two tickets for the movie and saw it in a big movie theatre. After that, they left the mall and went to the park next to James’s house. They saw some kids flying a kite. They enjoyed watching them.

When it got darker, Almira went to her own house. Soon her mom came home and said, “Almira, get ready quickly. We’re leaving for grandma’s birthday. Can you please take the birthday cake from the fridge?” Almira was shocked. She said, “Mom, did you bake the cake for grandma?”. Her mom said, “Yes, darling. What’s the problem?”. “Mom, I am really sorry to tell you this, but James and I ate the cake this afternoon. We thought you baked it for us.”, Almira said. Mom said, “Oh really! It’s OK, darling. Then we will find another solution”. Almira said, “Mom, I want to buy a cake from the bakery with my pocket money. It is my fault!” Mom said ok and they bought a new cake from the bakery. Almira learned she should make sure if something is for her or not before she eats it.
