THE INVENTOR OF TELEVISION
John Logie Baird was born in Scotland in 1888. He was always interested in electronics. He studied electrical engineering at the Royal Technical College in Glasgow, but because of the World War he couldn’t finish his school. He worked as an engineer in England, but he didn’t like his job. He was bored and unhappy. In 1914 he decided to leave his job and become an inventor. It was his biggest dream. His first inventions weren’t very successful and when he was thirty five he didn’t have any money at all.
He was a very hard-working man and he never gave up. In 1923 he started to make a machine to send sound and pictures. Soon he could send pictures as far as two or three meters. He showed his new invention in London in 1926. It was the first TV show ever! He was the first man to televise pictures of objects in motion. Logie Baird made the first TV with a very big mechanical camera but its pictures weren’t very good. The first home television appeared in the 1930s and the cameras were electronic.
