The Museum
Two weeks ago, I came to Macedonia to do a language course with my university class. The weather is so cold. It is -15 most days so we don’t go out much, or if we go out, we go somewhere that has indoor activities.
Last weekend, the trip that was planned for us was a trip to the local museum. I love museums so I was excited to go. We arrived at the museum in the morning. It was quite busy, with some local visitors as well as some tourists. We were given some questions to answer while we looked around the museum. My team and I went off to do the questions and have a look around.
After we had finished, we went to the café for a coffee. That was when I saw the thief. I couldn’t believe my eyes! My friends were getting the drinks, and I was sitting down and looking around. I caught sight of a man who was hanging around without a drink or anything to eat. I thought it was a bit off so I watched him a little. Then, he walked past a table and bent down to tie his shoelaces. At least, that was what he was pretending to do. Actually, he bent down and when he thought nobody was looking, he took a purse out of a lady’s handbag that was hanging on the back of her chair.
All of a sudden, he stood up and dashed out of the café. I shouted to the lady that he had stolen her purse but we were all too shocked to run after him. Afterwards, I told the security guard what I had seen, and then I told the police when they came. They didn’t catch the thief, but they found the lady’s purse outside. The cash and credit cards had been stolen but her ID was still in it, so that was very lucky for her.
