The Mythical Griffin
The Griffin is said to come from Ethiopia and it is a large powerful creature with magical powers. It is thought they eat elephants and giraffes. Also, horses are particularly afraid of them. Many people believe that Griffin bones, when made into a powder, can repair the sight of the blind. Furthermore, if you eat raw Griffin eggs, you will have a very long life. They have the head of an eagle, including a curved beak and golden, brown feathered ears. Their necks and shoulders are also covered in feathers and its two front legs have huge eagle like talons. However, its back, tail and two back legs are like a lion. This part of the creature has light brown fur and it is thought it is about 10 metres tall and 12 metres long from nose to tail. As the lion is the king of the animals and the eagle is the king of the birds , this strong creature is called the ‘The king of all the beasts’. Their size and power make them one of the most terrifying legendary animals. People looked to the skies and put spikes on their roofs to protect themselves from these flying terrors.
