THE PYRAMIDS OF GIZA
The Egyptian pyramids are ancient pyramid-shaped structures located in Egypt. Most Ancient Egyptian pyramids were built as tombs for Pharaohs and their families. They were built as a resting place and to protect the Kings and queens of Egypt. Egyptians believed in life after death. They decorated the tombs with wonderful scenes of every aspect of life. So, the pyramids are not just about death but actually how they lived. That’s why there were many rooms and tunnels in the pyramids so that they put jewels, gold and even food in the pyramids.
The Pyramids of Giza were built for the Pharoah Khufu and took 20 years to build it. Pharaoh Khufu began the first Giza pyramid project, Khufu's son, Pharaoh Khafre, built the second pyramid at Giza and the third of the Giza Pyramids built by Pharaoh Menkaure. The ancient engineering at Giza was so impressive that even today scientists can't be sure how they built the pyramids. It still is a big mystery. All pyramids in Egypt, including those built on the Giza are located on the west bank of the River Nile because that is where the sun sets every evening. It symbolizes the reality of death. Another reason was because it was easier for the builders to move the large stones by boat and then they pulled them to the building area. The builders were skilled, well-fed Egyptian workers who lived nearby.
The Pyramids of Giza are the largest and most recognizable pyramid structures in the world and the last of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World. Until the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Great Pyramid was the tallest structure in the world. The pyramids were and even today they are still very stunning for people. They visit Egypt to see the pyramids and also to travel back in time. Everyone tries to understand the mystery behind the pyramids. Every day with the help of the technology, people get to know more about the pyramids but still there are many unanswered questions.
