THE SECRET OF THE CLOCKS

THE SECRET OF THE CLOCKS

In 1983, someone walked into a museum in Israel and then walked out with 106 clocks. One of those clocks was Marie Antoinette’s. Detectives tried to find that person but they weren’t successful.

Some detectives believed that there were more than three thieves. It was very difficult to steal 106 clocks from a museum. Policemen tried to find the thief for more than twenty years. They talked to many people. They studied the clues. They never stopped looking for the thief.

In 2006 an American woman called the museum. She wanted to sell some old clocks. She wanted $40,000 for 40 clocks. The museum called the police. They wanted to know who the woman was. The police contacted the woman and asked many questions about the clocks. She informed them about the woman in Israel. She was a famous thief’s wife.

Her husband’s name was Naman Diller. He was a very famous thief. He wasn’t alive when the police questioned her.

In 2006, police managed to find out more about the theft. They asked many questions to Diller’s wife and she answered all the questions. They learned that Diller studied the museum before stealing the clocks. That day there was something wrong with the museum’s alarm system. The guard was in the front. Diller crawled in from back window. He was a thin man. The guard or other people didn’t see him.

The other clocks were in Dillers’ home too. The museum workers carried them back to their place. There are plans to show them again soon.
