There is no Planet B

Dear Sir or Madam ,
I. I represent a group called Global Warnings - There is no Planet B. I am writing to you because I am concerned about the rise in greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere and oceans. This causes an increase in extreme weather events including tropical storms such as those in Fiji, Vanuatu and the Philippines.
II. In Australia the frequency of extreme weather events has increased, and since 2001 the number of extreme heat records has outnumbered extreme cool records. Impacts are also taking place in the ocean, where the CO₂ rise has caused an increase in acidity. According to James Hansen, NASA’s former chief climate scientist, “burning all fossil fuels would create a different planet than the one that humanity knows”. Joachim Schellnhuber, chief climate scientist of Germany , has summed up the situation by saying: “We’re simpl y talking about the life support system of this planet.”
III. We call on the Australian government to tackle the root causes of an unfolding climate tragedy and do what is required to protect future generations and nature, including meaningful reductions of Au stralia’s peak carbon emissions and coal exports, while there is still time. We have therefore decided to take action and we are going to organize a protest. For this reason, we are sending you a poster and we hope that you will support us and help to publ icize this event.
