Traditional English Proverbs

I lived in the same house for the first 18 years of my life, and in all of that time the house next door was a ‘no go area.’ I had always been told that the women who lived there was a bitter , argumentative old lady, and that I should stay away from the house at all times. One day when I was about 10, I learnt a very important life lesson. I had just got a new dog and was having a great time playing with my adorable new friend in my back garden. Unfortunately, I lost control of the frisbee and it flew over the fence into next doors property. I was very fearful and crept through the gate so I could find my lost frisbee. The garden was like a wilderness , looking so unloved. It took me a good half an hour to locate my toy but as I reached forward I heard a voice, ‘What are you doing in here?’ I had been caught. As I turned around I saw a woman in a wheel chair looking my way. ‘Can I help you?’ she shouted. I walked forward slowly and apologised for coming into the garden without permission. To my surprise she turned out to be a lovely lady that was unable to get out much and people had come to the wrong impression over the years.
