TURNING HOBBIES INTO JOBS

TURNING HOBBIES INTO JOBS

Rachel: I’m one of the luckiest people in the world. Why? Because my hobby is my job. My hobby is reading. I LOVE reading. And I’m an editor working for McCormack Press, a publishing company. It is my job to read books, for hours, every day. They even pay me for it!

When an author finishes writing his/her book, he/she sends it to us. We read it and decide if we want to publish and sell it. I’ve always been crazy about reading. I have got my personal library of about 2000 books. I like reading all kinds of book but science fiction is my favourite.

Andrew: Some people say that you do not work at all if your job is your hobby. I’ve always loved spending time with animals. I had two dogs in my house when I was a kid. Today, I’m a vet! I like helping sick animals. Mostly, people bring their pets to my clinic, but sometimes, I go to animal shelters and help the animals living there. I do not charge animal shelters, this is one thing that I can do to help animals with no home.

Becky: I’m a gardener! I’m proud to say that I am one, because not everyone loves their job as much as I do! Spending your day working with plants is like a therapy. Planting trees and flowers, keeping them alive, designing gardens, watering plants, they are all very relaxing. Three years ago, I was an accountant working in a boring office with an air conditioner. Then I decided to quit and do something that I really like. That’s gardening. It is the best decision I’ve ever made.
