Two Kinds of Living Rooms

1. A traditional Japanese house has got lots of parts. One important part is the living room. It is bigger than the other rooms in the house. It has got a table with short legs in the middle called Chabudai. The family in the house sit around it, eat and talk. There are not any chairs, but you can sit on soft cushions called Zabuton.

2. In a modern Western flat, the living room can be smaller than the bedroom. It has got a sofa and a table. People drink tea or coffee and watch TV there. There is usually a lamp next to the sofa. People relax on the sofa and read a book.
