Two Technologies that Made a Difference
Wi-Fi technology is an Australian invention that is now present in desktop and laptop computers, video game consoles, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, digital audio players and modern printers. It helps us send information from one device to another. For example, you can connect two computers and you can share your files on your laptop to your smartphone. You can connect your laptop or smartphone to the Internet with Wi-Fi too.
GPS is short for the ‘global positioning system’. It is the invention of the United States government, and it’s a free service. It uses satellites in space to show where you are. Tourists use GPS instead of big paper maps to find their way in cities and forests and on roads. Now, all smartphones come with GPS. It is also used in a lot of other modern devices, for example, in laptops and some modern cars.
