UNDERSTANDING THE OTHER

How would your life be if you couldn’t see? Have you ever thought about it? At a new exhibition in Barcelona, you can experience the world using your other senses: touch, hearing, smell, taste and sense of balance to ‘see’ without using your eyes. Learn to understand beauty in a totally new way! Find out what things look like when you are not looking at all!

At this fantastic exhibition, you will have a chance to understand how blind people live. Try out useful devices that make life easier for visually-impaired people, such as talking clocks or computer screen-reading software. Try to cross the road using a walking stick with a sensor. Experience what it is like to do your shopping without seeing what you are buying, or make a comment about a person without seeing him or her just based on their voice and tone.

The exhibition also allows you to explore art: touch sculptures, hear descriptions of paintings and photographs and listen to music in complete darkness. Experience what it feels like to have dinner in the dark. Spend an evening at Dark Restaurant: eat in a relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by the tastes and smells of a delicious meal, and the sounds of good conversation and light music. Bring your friend and show them a world they have never ‘seen’ before.

If you want to book tickets for the exhibition or a table for dinner, you should call us and make a reservation. The exhibition takes nearly 90 minutes, and the dinner in the dark takes more than you imagine; that is nearly 2 hours. The exhibition runs from Saturday, January 9th to Saturday, June 3rd.
