She says the knife blades she gives him are not as sharp anymore, so he can't hurt himself. She also says when they buy a new dagger, they always discuss about violence. She told the magazine: "We also talk about samurais and about the idea of defending someone as good. We talk about everything."

The actor and filmmaker started collecting typewriters in 1978, according to a newspaper article he wrote for the New York Times in 2013. He says he likes typewriters mainly for the typing sound. In 2014 Hanks released an app called the Hanx Writer that gives you the beautiful experience of a manual typewriter fonts on an iPad or iPhone. After hearing about his obsession with typewriters, one journalist decided to send him an interview invitation on a 1934 Smith Corona typewriter. Hanks accepted the invitation with a cheeky, typewritten reply.
