Walt Disney Studios’ old animation building is changing. Once upon a time, it was a place where artists drew movies by hand. ‘Dumbo’ and ‘Cinderella’ were made there. Today, the team is using the building in a different way.

Their lab is in Burbank, California. It’s a short walk from Walt Disney’s old office. Instead of pencils and light tables, the lab is full of drones and digital projectors.

The space is called StudioLab. Its purpose is to come up with new ideas to help filmmakers use the latest technology. The team helps with the movie ‘Captain Marvel’ and ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’.

StudioLab developed an iPad app for filmmakers. They use drones with cameras to fly over areas that humans cannot reach. It takes pictures of places they might want to use in the films.

Some of the lab’s ideas are still tested. However, more of the lab’s ideas will find everyday users soon.
