We Celebrate New Year

We Celebrate New Year

Here in the USA, we usually hold parties at home or go out with family and friends on New Year’s Eve. In many cities there are public gatherings in the street and people count down to midnight to welcome in the next year. We eat toffee apples and steaming hot drinking chocolate.
In China, our celebrations aren’t on the same date every year, they change because we use a calender based on the moon. Next year, it will be in February, but it is always fantastic. We love the fireworks and dragon dances, and we give each other money.
Traditionally in Australia, we celebrate New Year’s Eve with a massive firework festival where people make lots of noise with whistles, car horns and church bells. The next day, we have picnics and barbecues on the beach.
