WE HAVE TO SAVE THEM BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!
Dodo birds were a kind of bird, and they lived on the island of Mauritius in Africa. But they were all killed by humans 400 years ago. Now no one can see a dodo anymore because they are extinct. The same thing can happen to other animals, such as koalas, sea turtles, tigers, elephants and many more if we don’t do anything to save them.
Here are some important facts about elephants. Read and take action before it is too late! Elephants are big—really big. They are the largest land animals in the world. They are also clever and sensitive. Elephants have good memories, too. They can remember their relatives for a long time. They care for their families and appear to show sadness when loved ones die. These animals are strong and gentle. All elephants are herbivores which means they eat grasses, bark, twigs, leaves, and fruit. They can spend 18 hours each day eating. An adult elephant might eat more than 181 kilograms of food in one day. They also need about 210 litres of water each day. They travel long distances to find it.
Elephants don’t have natural enemies but they are in danger. Lions sometimes kill young or weak elephants in the wild. This doesn’t happen very often. The main risk to elephants is from humans. Humans kill elephants for their ivory tusks or destroy their habitat. Each animal and plant is important because living things need one another. So is the elephant! Never buy, sell or wear ivory! You can also help elephants which live in circuses as prisoners. Don’t visit circuses which are unkind to elephants. Visit the zoo in your city and check if they live in a friendly environment. If not, inform the mayor quickly. Take action and save the animals!
