WEATHER AND ART
QUESTION: Why is it sunny in all of your paintings? Because I am a happy person, and I like happy scenarios. If the sun is shining, happy people leave their houses and play outside. Some people go to the beach. Some play baseball. People go to the park and have a barbecue. I like to paint people when they are having fun because it is an emotion that other people enjoy looking at.

QUESTION: Why is it windy in all of your paintings? I love chaos. We can plan every detail in our lives, but when the wind blows hard enough, we lose control of everything. Most of the people in my paintings want their lives to be perfect, and they want to control everything. I show how this goal is impossible in a windstorm.

QUESTION: Why is it snowy in all of your paintings? I am a slow person. I can’t walk well because I was born with a knee problem. When it snows, life slows down. Cars drive slowly. People walk very carefully. There are no crowded places. People understand me better when they can’t move quickly. I like life more when it is slow.

QUESTION: Why is it cloudy in all of your paintings? I think life is like a cloudy day. Nothing is bright, and nothing is happy; there is no sunshine. The people in my paintings are having a hard time in their lives. They don’t like their jobs, their families are unhappy, and they don’t have enough money. I want people to feel sad when they look at my art.
