WHAT DO YOU RECYCLE ?

Four children from around the world tell us about what they recycle.

Emil (Denmark): In Denmark we get money if we recycle something like glass, plastic or cans. We put them into special machines that clean them and give us money in return.

Sara (Senegal): In Senegal, almost nothing gets recycled like in Europe. However, we reuse everything. For example, aluminum cans can be used to plant flowers in or drink water from. Old newspapers are used to wrap food in. Plastic bags can be used to make shoes. We reuse everything!

Philip (Greece): In Greece, we don’t recycle anything. I want to recycle more but we don’t have anywhere to do it. There aren’t many bins to put recycling in.

Lena (Switzerland): In Switzerland we recycle almost everything. Glass, paper, tin cans, plastic bottles, oil, batteries… the list is very long. Glass is recycled at supermarkets. They have special boxes for each colour of glass. We don’t throw things away because recycling is free, but we have to pay to throw rubbish away. The garbage man doesn’t collect it if we don’t pay.
