What Is It Like Being a Teacher?

Being a teacher isn’t like any other job. Teachers have serious responsibilities apart from teaching a subject to students. They make a difference in students’ lives both academically and socially. They are people who want the best for their students.  1. ___________. However, they don’t know the fun parts of being a teacher.

First of all, spending time with children and teenagers keeps you young and up-to-date. You learn about the latest fashion, popular bands and songs. 2. ___________. Their parents may not understand what they mean when they use those words, but teachers understand them because they hear them from their students.

Secondly, you keep on learning new things. While you’re planning your lesson, you do research, read articles about the topic and learn new things. 3. ___________. Every student has different interests and hobbies. For example, when one of your students who is interested in mountain climbing is talking about the sport, you may learn details that you haven’t heard before.

Another fun part is that every day is different. Since your topic changes frequently, the ambiance in the classroom and the reaction of the students change.

Observing the improvement of students, and seeing that they can ‘make it’ is a wonderful feeling.

4. ___________. You know that you have played a part in your students’ achievement and it makes your day.

The ‘Thank You’ that you get at the end of the year is the best gift that a teacher ever gets. Nothing can make you happier than this. Being a teacher is a great honour.
