WHAT IS THE MOST POPULAR SPORT ?

Manu (New Zealand): Rugby is the most popular sport in New Zealand. The New Zealand rugby team is the best team in the world. At school everyone plays rugby, not only the strongest and fastest students. Some people think rugby is the most dangerous sport because we don’t wear kneepads or helmets, but I don’t think it’s dangerous. I think it’s fun. I love playing rugby.

Miki (Japan): Lots of sports are popular in Japan, but baseball is the most popular. My favourite team is the Fukoka Hawks. They wear black and yellow shirts. They are the best team in Japan. They won the championship last year. The oldest sport in Japan is sumo wrestling, but it isn’t so popular these days.

Siobhan (Ireland): Our traditional sports are popular. My favourite is hurling. Hurling is like hockey or lacrosse, but it’s much faster. You use a stick to pass a ball through the air. The ball is small and hard and it travels very fast so you can get hurt easily. Hurling is not professional, but the most skilled players are still heroes.

Sondre (Norway): Norway is one of the coldest countries. It snows a lot so winter sports are popular. Many people like ski jumping but I think it is the scariest sport.
