What Kind Of School?

What Kind Of School?

There are lots of kinds of schools around the world. Toby and Alice, two of our readers, write to us every month.
This time, the topic is ‘What kind of school do you go to?’

Toby: ‘I go to a magnet school. In magnet schools students study one subject more than other subjects.
I love art, so my lessons are usually about drawing, painting, graphic design and art history.
Students choose different times to go to school. For example, I have classes in the morning on Monday,
Tuesday and Thursday, and in the afternoon on Wednesday. My best friend Carl has technology classes,
so his classes are usually in the afternoon. We see each other at school only on Wednesday.’

Alice: ‘My home is very far from the school, so I go to a boarding school.
Students in a boarding school don’t go back home in the afternoon. They stay there for the whole week.
I sometimes go home at the weekend to see my parents, but I often stay there with my friends.
Our lessons are like the lessons in other schools, but our friendships are different. Simona is my best friend here.
She sees me as her sister, and we help each other with everything. We’re like a family.’
