Nowadays on social media, we can see millions of recipes under the hashtags of ‘healthy food’, ‘food intolerance’, ‘gluten-free’ and ‘sugar-free’. It is amazing that the number of these healthy food cooks are increasing day by day. Here we can see some reasons for this.


Autoimmune diseases
Have you ever heard about this? Our immune system is essential for our survival. With the help of it, our bodies can fight with bacteria, viruses, parasites and more. For the last decade, there has been a term which is becoming popular among people. It is called ‘autoimmune disease’. It is a type of illness that a body fights to defend itself. When the immune system starts to malfunction, the body mistakes its own tissues as foreign, and it starts to produce autoantibodies that attack its own tissues. Today in America, 50 million Americans are suffering from autoimmune disorders. According to the doctors who are working on the immune system, this malfunctioning is because of our food intolerances.

We all think that the industrialised lifestyle affected our lives in a really positive way. However, this can prove the opposite because the countries which become more industrialised have more autoimmune conditions. When packaged food became really popular because of our busy lifestyle, our autoimmune condition started to get worse. As a result, the more we consumed fast food, the more we became ill.


The root cause
What is the main reason for autoimmune diseases? According to scientists, there are two types of food which are poisonous to people. They are sugar and gluten. When we eat sugar, sweets or desserts, our blood-sugar balance changes really fast. If you have an autoimmune condition, this change can be understood as a threat to your body. Then, your immune system starts to attack your body. The same procedure works with gluten. When we eat gluten, which is a protein in wheat or flour, our body cannot digest it well, and your immune system starts to attack you.


What should we eat?
We need to go back to our basics. We should eat non-processed, healthy food such as fruit and vegetables. If we eat fruit and vegetables with a good balance of protein, our body will function really well. Also, if we drink lots of water instead of other man-made beverages, we will have a healthy life. Let’s make our food our cure, not our poison.
