WHY ARE NUMBERS SO IMPORTANT TO US?

Numbers are an unavoidable part of our daily lives because we need them to measure time, length, weight etc.
1) .....................................................................................Let’s have a closer look at how numbers play a crucial role in our everyday lives.

It is through numbers that we know a day is 24 hours, 1,440 minutes, 86,400 seconds. Numbers tell us the time, and time gives us a schedule and the ability to organise. For example, it is through numbers that we know a day has passed, and it is the time to get up the next day.

Numbers are important when it comes to money as well, and money is an inseparable part of life where numbers can simply show their power. Money is one of the main reasons why we study, work, think and compete.
2) ...........................................................................................................

We need numbers to make sense of the weight of anything on the scale, too. It is numbers that show us how heavy things are. Can you imagine buying apples or oranges without having numbers in your mind? How could you have explained the amount of the apples you needed if we didn’t understand numbers?

How about making sense of distance? Numbers help us there, too. You can measure any distance and have an understanding of how far or close things are. For example, knowing the Avrasya Marathon is 42,195 kilometres allows you to make a judgement, pass a comment or even make a decision to run it or not.

3) .............................................................................. We know that we have done very well in an exam at school by looking at our marks. We count them, add them up, and keep track of them. We consider ourselves successful if the numbers are high, and we face failure when they are low.

To sum up, 4) .............................................................................. They are our way of making sense of the world as they turn any qualitative data into quantitative one. Thus, we know what time it is, how much things cost or how far things are.
