Why are the World’s Top Chefs Mostly Men?
I think you have heard this before that even though women do most of the cooking around the world, men are better at cooking, or in other words, the world’s best cooks are men. If you look at statistics, that is true. A vast majority of the world’s top chefs are men. Do you think it is because men have a better brain for cooking? Or is it because of other factors as well?
Looking at how men think and how their brain works requires years of scientific research, so this article is going to look at the history and nature of being a chef and see why men do better as chefs.
The first thing to look at is history. For a long time, due to a lot of reasons, women were not allowed to work, let alone be the leader of a work group. Therefore, men have had the chance to dominate the kitchens in restaurants and royal courts.
Another factor is the workplace. Restaurant kitchens are usually harsh environments where people need to work non-stop and fast. In such environments, men can survive better because they are generally physically stronger than women. As a result, they are more likely to move up in the kitchen and become a chef. Most women work in this kind of atmosphere for a short time and then quit for an easier job.
