WHY DO SOME PEOPLE DISLIKE HORROR MOVIES?
Not everyone likes watching horror movies. For some people, it is an experience much-avoided. If you’re one of those people, you will find it impossible to forget the horror of the movie for weeks or even months after watching it. You will lay in your bed, thinking that something is creeping out from under your bed, and you will regret watching that movie.
Anxiety is a worry that something might happen in the future. While watching a scary movie, we are aware that it’s not real, but we may find it hard to get rid of the anxiety later, when we’re back in reality. So, what’s the point in watching something thrilling for a few hours, only to be terrified by it for days afterwards? Some people are very careful while choosing what kind of horror movies they watch. They avoid films that seem too relatable. For example, a babysitter will – of course – not want to watch a movie with a babysitter being chased by a serial killer! However, some people hate watching horror movies. Scientists have found that serotonin levels can differ greatly in individuals, so our brain simply may not produce as much serotonin as necessary to cope with the fright of watching a horror movie.
