WORKING FROM HOME

WORKING FROM HOME

Some people work but they don’t have offices. They don’t even leave their houses to work. They work from their homes. It may sound great but is it really great for everybody?

You need to have Internet access for almost all work-from-home jobs. You need to use the Internet, e-mail, online chatting, texting, and instant messaging to communicate with your colleagues or customers. Employees can share work through e-mail and other online tools.

Many companies nowadays prefer their employees to work from
like this because they don’t have to spend money for office space and also office supplies. They believe that people are more effective when they work from their own homes.

Workers prefer working from home, too. It can save them money. They don’t have to pay for transportation. They also don’t have to pay for work clothes. Many people who work from home say that it is good to plan your own schedule. These kinds of jobs don’t need a worker to work between 9-5. Workers can make their own schedules. They can spend time doing other things than work during the day. They can take their children to school, have a dentist appointment or even go to the cinema with their friends. Some workers say that they sometimes spend the whole day in their pyjamas if they don’t have an online meeting.

Working from home sounds like a great idea but it is not for everyone. Workers need to plan their time well. They need to find the right time to do their job. Sometimes children, pets or even the TV can be very distractive. They need to make sure that they have a quiet environment to concentrate on their work. It is usually a good idea to have a study room in the house where a person can work. Some people also feel lonely when they work from home. They say that it is nice to have some people to work with so that they can talk about other things during the day. They feel lonely when there isn’t anyone around to talk to during the day.

It may also be more tiring and difficult for some people. Especially work-from-home mums say that they prefer working in an office. Jenny says “being at home during the day means helping your children, taking care of the dog and cooking while you are trying to do some work. Sometimes I feel that I work 24 hours a day. I wish I worked at an office. Maybe I could have breaks to sit and do nothing then.”
