WORKING ON A FARM

WORKING ON A FARM

WWOOF is a network of national organisations. It means Working Weekends On Organic Farms. Today, we are on a farm in Brazil, and there is a volunteer family here. Let’s have an interview with the family.

Reporter: Hi, I’m Jessica, and I want to do an interview with you today. Can you tell me your names and your jobs, please?

Mum: Sure! My name is Erica. I’m a teacher. I work at a school, but now it’s summer holiday time, so we are working on this farm.

Dad: Hi! I’m Steve. I’m a vet. There are lots of animals here. Look at those goats and hens over there!

George: Hello, I am George. I am 9 years old, and I am a student. We are taking care of the animals and trees.

Reporter: Perfect! Erica can you tell me about your typical day on this farm?

Mum: Well, we get up early and prepare breakfast. We pick some tomatoes, peppers and vegetables from the garden. We bake our own bread and milk the cow to have fresh milk!

Dad: In the afternoons, we water the plants and feed the animals. In the evenings, we sleep early because we all get tired.

Reporter: Great! Do you enjoy working here, George? What do you want to be when you grow up?

George: Yes, I do! I love spending time on this farm. When I grow up, I want to be a farmer because I’m in love with farming—and nature in general.
