Would You Like to Have the Best Job in the World?

Australian tourism officials are looking for someone who will work on a tropical island, called the Hamilton Island, off the Queensland coast. Candidates must be willing to swim, snorkel, dive and sail. The salary is A$150,000 (€70,000) for six months and if you get the job, you get to live rent-free in a three-bedroom villa with a swimming pool. You have to work only 12 hours a month. Some of your duties are feeding fish, collecting the island’s mail, prepare a blog, a photo diary and video updates to attract tourists to the island.

Antony Hayes, the Chief Manager of the Tourism Office, said: “We are looking for someone to tell the stories of the Great Barrier Reef, and we have come up with this dream job. We are looking for someone who can go and explore the island then report back to the world on what they see. We need a special person. They are going to be very busy having a good time.” Candidates must submit an online video application until 22 February. The successful candidate will start working on 1 July. Mr. Hayes says he is expecting thousands of applications.
