Shopping Etiquette – A Different Way

Shopping Etiquette – A Different Way

Have you ever decided to go around a shopping centre or traditional market only to look at things but instead ended up buying lots of things that you didn’t want? This is what happened to Alan in Istanbul. Every time he went to a shopping area, like the Grand Bazaar, he came back with bags of unnecessary things. The shopkeepers used some strategies to make him buy their stuff. But what could he do? Here are some tips:

1- When a shopkeeper asks you to look at things or even try them, you don’t have to say yes. Simply tell them you don’t want to and then say thank you.

2- If you think the shopkeepers are rude, it may be because you have different cultures. That’s it. If you get upset, they will try harder to keep you in their shops.

3- They’re on the important squares of the city and are always happy to help tourists. You can even get the map of different places around that area.

4- It might be just a piece of paper, but it can save you when you want to return something that was broken or you didn’t like.
