Where’s the Waitress?

Last week we were in a restaurant we've gone to now and again over the years. Normally it’s good but last week it was terrible. We sat down and the waitress asked us what we would like to drink. We gave her our order and at the same time I told her there was no cutlery on the table. She looked at the table and then told me she would be right back. Ten minutes later she came back and took our dinner order. I mentioned again that there was no cutlery and her answer was, "Oh, right, hang on".

Now, after that we didn't see her again for thirty minutes. No drinks, no silverware, nothing. We couldn’t even see her anywhere in the restaurant. After another thirty minutes, she showed up again with our meals, both pasta dishes. She put them down, and I again mentioned that we had no cutlery and we couldn’t eat our dinner. Her response was, "Oh, I'm so sorry, hang on".

She disappeared again. Now there’s something quite annoying about being very hungry and staring at your meal but not being able to eat it. After staring at our dinner for at least five minutes, I got up, went to another empty table and took two full sets of cutlery and napkins. Twenty minutes after we finished our meals there was still no waitress. When I saw the manager and told her what happened, do you know what she said? She told me, “Oh, no cutlery? That’s because you stole the first set and then you took a second set from another table!” I couldn’t believe it!
